Projects & Research

The EDM Forum Network
The map (left) represents the EDM Forum network of projects building the electronic clinical data infrastructure to improve patient outcomes. Coordinating sites of each of the 11 research projects are noted with large markers. Three coordinating sites are located in Denver, CO. Participating sites in the research networks (i.e. healthcare settings, research sites, and data sharing partners) are noted with small points.

Shading Legend
Dark green shading indicates 20% or more of the state’s population is included in at least one of the networks; light green shading indicates between 2% and up to 20% of the state's population is included in at least one of the networks; no shading indicates that there is a not a significant number of patients from the research networks represented in the state.

Background

The EDM Forum aims to advance the national dialogue on the use of electronic clinical data for the conduct of CER, quality improvement, and clinical decision support by facilitating exchange and collaboration between the eleven projects within the Prospective Outcome Systems using Patient-specific Electronic data to Compare Tests and therapies (PROSPECT) studies, Scalable Distributed Research Networks (DRN) for CER, and Enhanced Registries for Quality Improvement (QI) and CER grant programs. The CER Project Profiles report, released in February 2012, provides a background and profiles for each of the projects.

Priority Populations and Conditions

The PROSPECT, Scalable Distributed Research Network, and Enhanced Registry projects address more than half of the priority populations and conditions outlined by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). A full list of all AHRQ priority populations and conditions may be found on the AHRQ Effective Health Care Program web site.

Click on the table icon (below) to see an overview of AHRQ priority populations and conditions addressed by the CER studies conducted by the PROSPECT, DRN, and Enhanced Registry projects.
